Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

This morning we attended a magnificent theater production.  It was a version of The Enormous Turnip put on by Benjamin's kindergarten.  Benjamin has a pretty nasty cold, so we we not sure he was going to attend, but the teacher encouraged us to bring him if we thought he would be up for participating in any of it. 
He did a great job during his Dingle-Dangle Scarecrow part, but we could see him fading fast.  When his eyes were completely glassed over from his cold, he decided to join us in the audience.  I will first post photos and then attempt to get a video posted...although I haven't had luck with that before. 

Since Sam & Mak know half the kids in the school, we got special permission ahead of time to invite them, so I am sure there will be blog posts coming soon on their pages.  =)

Happy Holi!

Things I've learned today:
- A "calm" kids holi party can get crazy!...and lots of fun for the adults too!
- Holi powder really stings in the eyes. 
- Holi colors go through clothes onto skin.
- Holi colors do not come off skin, nails, or out of hair...even with a loofah!
- Holi is FUN!!!

Holi is celebrated by making colorful water and putting in various buckets or kids swimming pools.  Then you use water guns or water gun "syringes" to squirt anyone & everyone.  Colored powder is another way of coloring. 

There are parties all around town that make our party look tiny...but personally, I think our party was just Perfect!!

Benjamin wasn't to sure he liked this Holi thing at the beginning, but he warmed up to it.  After our group photos, the apartment complex turned on their sprinkler system...which only added to the fun.

I'm sure Sam & Mak's blogs will have more photos soon.  It was hard to pick a few out of the 300 pictures that were taken during this 1 hour time period!

Papa...I think you need a new undershirt!

This little boy & his older sister spend all day with their mom that does rakes leaves across the street from our hotel.  We have interacted with them for the past year, but it was fun today to have a chance to really include them while we "played Holi"

After India

There are not many things that I will miss when we leave India, but there are a few.  We have made some wonderful friends here and Oh! how I will miss my refrigerator looking like this:

From top to bottom:
strawberries, figs, grape/cherry tomatoes
red, yellow, & green peppers and carrots
baby eggplant, tomatoes, and cucumbers
Alfonso mangos (yes, mango season has started!!)
Oh, and in the drawer below: fresh dill, fresh coriander, & fresh mint.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh!
