From what I can find, the major relgions in India breakdown like this:
80.5% Hinduism
13.5% Islam
2.5% Christianity
2% Sikhism
Believe it or not, our Dominique (our driver) is Christian.
Our western hotel has been decorated quite thoroughly for Christmas this week, but the big holiday was last month.
Diwali is the Hindu's big holiday. Also refered to as the Festival of Lights. Instead of Christmas Bonuses, Indian's get Diwali bonuses. Lots of Indian business' start a new fiscal year on Diwali. I hope to be here in early November of next year to enjoy this holiday season and be able to tell you more first hand.
