Went back to paint class this week...
Turns out it is "just" an 8 foot Rat Snake...non-poisonous, that seems to hang out there...and they seem to be fine with this. Hmmmmm...do these people not realize that my leg, or a small kid could fit inside an 8-foot snake (poisonous or not). Or that an 8-foot snake curled around someone's body can kill. Non-poisonous does not mean non-deadly or safe. Well, I stayed and painted anyway, but made sure to stomp my feet occasionally, to send vibrations through the earth to the snake...which apparently means he will stay away. I think I am as dumb as the rest of them.

Yeah, I've got a spider outside the window that is nonpoisonous, but the size of her means her mouth is probably rather large also and can bite.
