Okay, so not everything is cheap in India, but there are a few things that I have found that are worth taking advantage of while we are here.
I've lost some weight over the past 2 years...and none of my pants fit me anymore. Dominic took me to a tailor (alterations man) in December. Since these are "western" style pants - not what the average woman in India wears - we had to go to a men's tailor shop. Due to the culture, the men did not want to touch me, making me a bit nervous about getting pants altered by someone that didn't pin them while I had them on. I figured...I would take the risk. Okay, so the quality was not that of what I get in Germany, but the price to quality ratio was definitely worth it. So, this time I packed my whole suitcase full of pants & shorts. Yesterday, Dominic brought me back my 10 pairs or pants/shorts and told me that the total cost was 350 ruppees (that is $7.70 or Euros 5.60) - that was the TOTAL for all 10!! Amazing!
The quality is at the level that it would look best to wear a shirt that covers the waistline and maybe comes to the top of the pockets in the back - this is fine since it is all casual wear. There are a couple pairs of pants that the waist was adjusted fine, but there is a bit to much bagginess on the butt for me to wear - although that can be fixed. So, I went from having no pants/short that fit me to having a stack that will certainly do for casual days...and I definitely think the price was right!!

That was a true bargain. How about custom made clothing?
