This is how much money a Nanny/Cook earns in a month for working for a family 6 days a week from morning until 6pm.
I met Jacinta in December. She was with a family that had been in India for a few years and was moving to China. I contacted Jacinta last week and now she is watching Benjamin a few days a week until we fly back to Germany. Since it is a temporary job, I told her I would pay her 400/day...my math wasn't good that day, b/c that is way over her normal rate...but still only 6.50 euros / $9 for the day.
Benjamin likes her. When she arrives he says "Cinta." There are no issues when I leave, but I still love the HUGE hug I get from him when I come home.
On the days that Jacinta is here, she prepares a dinner for us to eat that evening. Sometimes I pick up the ingredients and sometimes she goes by the market on the way to see us.
Boy! Oh Boy! We are getting spoiled!!
I am trying to get her hooked up with our new Chicago friends. If we can manage to keep her close by, maybe we can use her a little when we come back. She said there is supposed to be another family coming that works for the same company as the family that went to China, but it seems that she doesn't have much information on timing of their arrival.

What a bargain! It amazes me the difference in pay....makes me appreciate the check I get even more!
